MultiVersusconfirms that Rick Sanchez will launch as the game’s latest playable character on September 27, alongside revealing the moves he will be able to use. It has been known for a while now that Rick would be joining the roster ofMultiVersusat some point. Last month, the genius scientist’s sidekickMorty made his way toMultiVersus, and following that release, many expected that Rick would added too, as it would seem strange to allow one part of the famousRick and Mortycombo to be playable without the other.
However, developer Player First Games seemingly did not want to throw in both Rick and Morty at the same time, and another character was revealed shortly after Morty in the form ofGizmo fromGremlins. Gizmo made for somewhat of a surprise appearance for manyMultiVersusplayers, especially after the reveal of Morty and the later confirmation that Black Adam and Stripe would be coming at some point in Season 1.

Now, Rick’s release date is finally here, as it has been confirmed that he will be available to allMultiVersusplayers from 10am PT on September 27. As well as confirming the release date for the character, Player First Games has also given a closer look at some of the moves that players will be able to use when bringing Rick into battle.
The first thing to note about Rick’s move set is that he is part of theMage class inMultiVersus, meaning he will focus on hitting enemies from afar with a range of projectiles. His first move of note is “Yeah, Fart Bomb,” which hits enemies upward in an AoE. Next, there’s “Meeseek and Destroy,” which summons a Meeseeks that runs towards an enemy, hitting them either with a mean uppercut or a golf club. It’s likely that the uppercut will send enemies upward while the golf club will launch them horizontally across the map.
Finally, Rick’s last move shown off by Player First Games is his “Basrick Portal Theory,” which can summon up to two portals for the character to travel between, essentially giving him an escape option if an opponent is hunting him across the map. Alongside these special moves, there will also be plenty of normal attacks that players can use when taking control of Rick. Some have already had a close look at the character by mining the files for Rick hidden in the PC version ofMultiVersus. For those who want to play him legitimately though,Rick will be a costlyMultiVersuscharacter, as revealed by Game Director Tony Huynh.
MultiVersusis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
