The firstIron Manmovie remains one of Marvel Studios' most beloved films. Its director Jon Favreau is so proud of the film that he recently shared a new never-before-seen post-credits scene that he had to film back then as aPulp Fictionand overall Samuel L. Jackson fan.

When 2008’sIron Mankicked off the MCU as it’s known today, it introduced Marvel Studios' now staple end-credits teasers, which have become one of fans' favorite parts of the films. InIron Man’s case, it happened to deliver one ofthe MCU’s seminal moments, Nick Fury formally introducing himself to Tony Stark. Although the alternate version is almost identical, the dialogue fits with a Tarantino variant of Fury.

The new footage was shown for the first time 15 years afterIron Man’s release during Favreau’s latest visit toJimmy Kimmel Live, where the filmmaker told the story behind it. According to Happy Hogan, it’s not as if he intended to change the setup for the Avengers' future team-up. But as a cinema lover, Favreau wanted to seize the opportunity to capture one of Jackson’s signature “motherf***er” expletives in Nick Fury form.

The back-and-forth between Kimmel and Favreau is perfect, with the late-night host sharing his feelings about the MCU’s teasers. However,Iron Man’s director didn’t share why he hadn’t made this hilarious piece of Marvel history public before. Jackson’s cussing would come close to making it into the MCU a decade later, asAvengers: Infinity Warends with Fury almost yelling out the word before being turned to dust by Thanos' snap.

While Favreau attendedJimmy Kimmel LivetopromoteThe Mandalorianseason 3, this funnyIron Maneaster egg is no accident, as Jackson will star in his own solo spinoff,Secret Invasion. Notably, one of Marvel Comics' most famous storylines, the MCU’sSecret Invasionwill undergo some changes to adapt the story within the context of the Multiverse Saga, allowing viewers to connect even more with the Avengers' headhunter, whose personal story has only been explored inCaptain Marvel.

Fury has been busy in space sinceSpider-Man: Far From Home, and though his comeback is one of the few guaranteed Marvel Studios releases for this year, his co-starRobert Downey Jr.’s return as Iron Manhas sadly been ruled out by the studio’s top brass.

Iron Manis now available on Disney Plus.
