NetherRealm Studios’Mortal Kombat 11has been thriving since it was released in March 2019, and just wonFighting Game of the Year at the 2020 DICE Awards. Undoubtedly one of the reasons for this popularity is the game’s continual implementation of DLC fighters and balance patches, the most recent patch dropping today with specific adjustments to 10 characters.
The latestMortal Kombat 11patch has one general adjustment fixing a “rare issue” in which fighters sometimes phased through one another when performing certain attacks after their Getup Forward Roll was interrupted. Most of the character-specific changes apply to DC Comics' Joker, the recently introduced DLC fighter, but multiple tweaks have also been applied to Erron Black and Kano.

Erron Black’s changes are a teleportation bug fix involving his Netherbeast Trap and a frame adjustment for his Grip Slam attack, while Kano was given increased range on a variety of attacks and ground reactions. Joker has a much longer laundry list of adjustments, many of which are fixing the kind of input errors, incorrect text displays, and frame inconsistencies one might expect from a new character withfighting styles still being explored.
The patch notes were uploaded to the r/MortalKombat subreddit by moderator WB_Will, and have garnered a number of comments lamenting the lack of a buff for long-time series veteran Shao Kahn. Other characters who received adjustments include Jax, Kung Lao, andfellowMK11DLC fighter Terminator.
NetherRealm Studios' commitment to keeping its game fair and balanced is admirable, as there’s still a huge playerbase for the Fighting Game Community mainstay despite it gettingdropped from EVO 2020’s lineup. From the amount of tweaks applied to Joker specifically, it seems like the developers want to makeMortal Kombat 11as fair as possible.
In the meantime, players are still waiting for Todd McFarlane’s Spawn to be added as the final first Kombat Pack fighter. Rumors and speculation for future additions have ranged wildly fromG.I. Joe’s Snake Eyesto iconic slasher Michael Myers from theHalloweenmovie franchise, any of whom would seem perfectly reasonable in a roster full of diverse characters constantly seeing patches.
Mortal Kombat 11is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
