At this point, much of the horror gaming community has already been swept up by the hype aroundPhasmophobia, Kinetic Games' ghost hunting title that has gone from strength to strength since being released just over a year ago. Perhaps one of the game’s hidden gems is theOuija board which lets players interact with thePhasmophobia’s ghostsby asking questions. It already has the ability for people to engage with spooks in ways that will help them identify which type it is, but a recent update to the game brings with it some additional changes to the board.

In a post on thePhasmophobiaSteam page, this latest patch goes to some lengths to adjust how the Ouija board is used during play. The notes on Steam say that asking different questions can now yield different results. It’s also made it so that the board is guaranteed to show up in Nightmare difficulty. As well as that, it adjusts how sanity is affected when the Ouija board is interacted with, being a little more forgiving about how much drops. These changes are going to be part of another update in the future, in which the developer says it’s aiming to make the personality and ability of each ghost “more unique.”

Of course, as with all updates, there are a number of tweaks and fixes as well, which keep the game in tip-top shape. As well as changing how frequently a ghost may move rooms, or adding extra photos into the game, there appears to be a little more consistency with evidence gathering, especially in Nightmare mode. For example, aGoryo will always give D.O.T.S. and an Obake will always give fingerprints during these difficulties.

Some bug fixes pertain toPhasmophobia’s new Maple Lodge Campsite level, such as issues with tent collision, fixing safe spots and making it less likely for players to get stuck in certain areas. Despite how recently the Halloween update was, Kinetic Games is seemingly very keen to keep its lucrative horror game as updated as possible, and it sounds as if another patch is on the horizon as well, no doubt with more tweaks and extra content.

Given its popularity, not just during the spooky season, as well as it being an ideal co-op game for streamers, it’s hardly surprising thatPhasmophobiais one of Steam’s highest rated games. Kinetic is frequently rolling out the updates and patches, and it will be exciting to see what the studio adds to it next.
