PlayStation 5fans have been looking forward to new State of Plays, as Sony uses the events to highlight all the content that is coming to its gaming platforms. After skipping the month of March and seeing big announcements leaked instead,PlayStation 5users can look forward to another State of Play later this week.
February’s State of Play made some interesting reveals, such as the intriguing indie gameSifuand the launch ofCrash 4: It’s About Timeon next-gen consoles. New footage ofSolar AshandFive Nights at Freddy’s Security Breachwere also shown, andOddworld: Soulstormwas revealed as an April PlayStation Plus game. While there was plenty to see at the show, many trailers were for games that were known about beforehand. Further, outside ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remake Integrade, the reveals were indie-focused. While some may have loved this direction, many argued that the latestState of Play did not feel next-gen, with the event not meeting expectations. To avoid this disappointment again, Sony has clarified what exactly will be at the State of Play this coming Thursday.
At 2 PM Pacific Time on Thursday, April 29, gamers can expect a hugegameplay session forRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart. In this session, gamers can expect to see more of the Dr. Nefarious-ruled universe revealed in the new trailer.Ratchet & Clank’s female Lombax, now confirmed to be named Rivet, will also be a focus of the footage. Outside of this gameplay event, PlayStation promised updates on “a pair of upcoming indie titles,” though it did not specify which indies will be shown.
While nothing is confirmed, two likely contenders areKena: Bridge of SpiritsandSifu. WithKena: Bridge of Spiritsbringing its Pixar-like visuals and intriguing combat to players on August 24, it would make sense to start promoting the game now. As forSifu, the game was recently revealed at the February State of Play, so the same platform may be used to provide additional details. This is purely speculation, however, as PlayStation could choose to show moreKnockout Citygameplay or the upcoming survival horror gameAbandoned. It is also possible that gamers see therecently leaked PlayStation Video Passin action, though this too is unconfirmed.
Regardless, gamers will want to keep their expectations in checkregardingGod of War: RagnorokorHorizon Forbidden Westnews, as these games would likely be teased beforehand if Sony was intending to show them off. For this State of Play, the focus seems to be entirely on indies andRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart, with big news likely to be saved for a later date.
