WhenNew Worldwasfirst released, the game took the MMORPG genre by storm, and countless players on Steam were rushing to play. The game was so popular with fans that theNew Worldserverswere struggling to keep up with the surge of players, so Amazon Studios has taken multiple precautions since then to make the game accessible to everyone.
However, despite the positive aspects of the game, a large percentage of the player base is starting to change their tune. Recently,New Worldreviews on Steamhave reached an overall mixed rating, with only 69% out of 176,390 total reviews for the game being positive.

Many are attributing the game’s decline to the patches forNew World, which have done things such as nerfing core mechanics and slowing Mote drops from creatures. From these slow and gradual changes, among other reasons, the player count has fallen from an all-time peak of 913,027 to around just 100,000 players this month.
Some of the top reviews on Steam provide more reasons why players are upset with the current state of the game. First, gamers feel as if the recentupsetting patches inNew Worldhave reflected the opinions of popular content creators and streamers, rather than the dedicated player base as a whole. On top of that, they felt as if the developers have made endgame leveling methods to boost player gear a more grueling farming process, which is an issue since many considered it to be taxing to begin with.

Some other reasons that are listed, and more well known by the player base, are the countlessNew Worldglitchesand bugs that have seriously hindered player experiences. While players understand that all new MMOs have bugs, which will likely be fixed soon, it still takes too much enjoyment away from the game. Gamers have also stated that faction power imbalances are also a massive problem in the game, with one server being fully owned by a single company. Unfortunately, they fear as if there are no solutions in sight.
Still, there has been a recent bump in positive reviews by players, so there might be potential for the game to come back. However, some are skeptical and state the reason being the Steam Awards review achievement. Most of the posts from around those days were from people who haven’t played the game that much in the past two weeks. Whatever the case may be, there are still plenty of issues that Amazon Studios needs to fix if the company is to keep the game in the good graces of the players it has left.
