One of the reasons for the sky-rocketing share price is the shortage of Nintendo Switches. WhileNintendo has promised that more Switches will be available soon, the COVID-19 crisis had impacted the ability to manufacture the hybrid consoles, as it has with some PS4s and Xbox Ones as well. However, this actually helps for the sake of share prices, as the demand for the console is very high right now. Nintendo often preaches the “blue ocean” approach, creating products that others don’t even think of, and making it so desirably that the community feels the craving to purchase that product that they didn’t know they wanted.
The release ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizonscould not have come at more perfect timing. With the whole world seemingly cooped at home and quarantined, the relaxing game of collecting, fishing, and building up a town on a deserted island is a natural getaway.AC:NHis now the fastest-selling game in Japan, and with how popular the game is, those numbers seemingly will continue to rise.
TheWorld Health Organization recently stated that it wants people to stay at home and play games, making Nintendo andNew Horizonsthe perfect combo during these trying times. As the government and medical professionals advise staying inside, it’s wonderful to know that Nintendo is where to go, and seemingly always has been, to find some joy.
Nintendo’s stability through the years is incredible. The company almost single-handedly brought the industry out of the video game crash of 1983. After that many wondered howNintendo would survive the console wars in the 90’s.
Nintendo made mistakes with creations like the Virtual Boy, but picked themselves up with gargantuan releases immediately afterwards with franchises likePokemon. And even as the Big N fell behind with fan-favorite consoles like the Gamecube, it found creative ways to appeal to the masses with the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo Wii. No matter the pandemic, no matter the hiccups, no matter the times, Nintendo finds ways to be successful, and more importantly, it finds ways to put smiles on the faces of its fans.
