Even though he started out as primarily a comedic actor and writer,Nopedirector Jordan Peele has made quite the mark as a horror director. Even thoughGet Outwrapped its story up in a nice bow, could there be enough material left for a sequel? Peele has recently hinted that there could be.

Between his two previous hits,Get OutandUs, andhis upcoming movieNope,Peele has solidified himself as a respected filmmaker in the horror genre. However, a sequel has yet to be added to his directing resume, and evidently, it’s not out of the question.

In a recent interview with Associated Press, Peele was asked about possibly making a sequel toGet Out. While Peele acknowledged that he frequently gets asked that question, he hinted that there could be one coming. Peele’s answer was brief, but it was direct regarding aGet Outsequel. “I do get asked that a lot. Never say never. There’s certainly a lot to talk about left. We’ll see.” Peele’s films are mostly horror, but they are usually a commentary on societal issues. Peele was also asked about how he feels about the mark he’s made on cinema in his own way. Peele didn’t mince words. “I feel like I’m off to the races. I just don’t know if I could limit how many films I have that are me. I’m starting to lose sight of what I would be doing if I wasn’t doing movies like this. So I would say the project has extended.”

Even though many would love to see a follow-up toGet Out, we have to remember that Peele has earned the right to go at his own pace. Making a sequel to such awell-renowned movie likeGet Outjust for the sake of making one could potentially go awry and even ruin what the first movie was going for. If Peele were to make aGet Outsequel, he should do one because, as he says, it’s a picture in which he gets out what he wants to saywhenhe has something to say.Get Outwas riveting because, while it may have been a horror, it was also a satire with a clear message to send. There’s no need to make a sequel to it unless Peele has more to add to that message.

Not to mention, where would he go with a potential sequel toGet Out? Spoiler warning: the Armitages are all presumed dead, andDaniel Kaluuya’s Chriswould wisely want to do everything in his power to avoid the trouble he unintentionally put himself through with them. Perhaps a sequel could be about Chris trying to save their other victims from the procedures the Armitages put them through. He figured out that a camera flash temporarily restored the victims' control of their minds, so who knows where he could go with that information? It could also explain the one question everyone asked while watchingGet Out, which was, how come nobody noticed all of these Black men were disappearing, never to be seen again?

Then again, maybe a sequel wouldn’t have to revolve around continuing Chris' story and could just start fresh with an entirely new plot. Peele has proven he has a good handle when he has something fresh on his mind to say. If he has something to say that’srelative to the plot ofGet Out, his followers have every reason to trust him. And who knows? Just because it would be a sequel doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be titledGet Out.
