While the premise of a group of young people being shrunk to the size of an ant isn’t exactly original, the developers at Obsidian Entertainment have done as much work as possible to giveGroundeda twist on the traditionalHoney I Shrunk the Kidsformula. Following a group of four teenagers fighting to survive after they accidentally shrink themselves in their backyard,Groundedcan be both a fun and terrifying experience as insects suddenly become apex predators.Groundedreleased for early access in 2020and has been getting progressively better with each update. The game is set for full release in September 2022.It seems thatGrounded’ssuccesses won’t just be tied to its release as a video game, as it has been reported recently that a TV series based on the survival game is in the works. Currently, it isn’t known how closely the show will follow the plot of the game, but it is likely that it will feature a similar premise of the protagonists being shrunk down. TheFalloutTV series, for example, recently shared its first set images, which revealed that the iconic Super Duper Mart would be a part of the show.
It is also likely that theGroundedTV show, alongside featuring a deeper look into the lore of the world, will also have a fair bit of action within the episodes. As a survival game where most of the insects see the player as prey,Groundedoften involves combating these insects in order to stay alive. With eachmajorGroundedupdate, the game has added more areas to fight insects and explore, more weapons, and new enemies. With combat being such a key part of the game, fans would probably hope it will at least feature within the show as well.
There’s currently no release time set for theGroundedTV show, but considering it has only just been announced, it is likely there will be a long wait ahead. For gamers wanting to see other Obsidian Entertainment projects, the developer has plenty in the works, including someambitious games likeAvowedandThe Outer Worlds 2.
