After an awfully long wait,Diablo 4has finally arrived and fans seem to be loving it so far. The fight against Lilith has been exhilarating, the combat has been engaging, and the world has been fantastic. The game has only just entered its full release and players have already sunk hundreds of hours into it, withsomeDiablo 4players having even hit level 100already. It seems to offer almost everything that ARPG fans could want, including a pretty in-depth leveling system.
Leveling plays a major part inDiablo 4’s gameplay loop. Just like with most RPGs, players will collect experience to earn levels and unlock exciting new abilities to unleash on their opponents. With 10 character slots andDiablo 4’s season structure, players will likely be leveling up a lot over the next couple of years. While they could do it the old-fashioned way, some players may want to approach this daunting task with a bit of help, and that help comes in the form of elixirs.

Diablo 4’s Elixirs Are a Must
Once players select their class, they will enter the world ofDiablo 4at level 1. Just like with everyDiablobefore it, players will level up as they progress through the story, or if they choose to ignore it altogether. While some players may do this only once, even more players will likely do this dozens of times. Not only are there five classes to level up, but ifDiablo 4ends up copyingDiablo 3’s seasonal systemthen players will constantly start over from square one. This means that players will get extremely comfortable with the leveling process, and they may want some help along the way.
Diablo 4features a one-use potiontype known as elixirs. These elixirs can be crafted at The Alchemist in most major towns and will give players a variety of bonuses depending upon which one they create. These elixirs will give players resistance to certain damage types, boost certain stats, or increase damage for 30 minutes. Along with those boosts, each elixir will also give players a small boost in experience gains. While it is not game-changing, these tiny boosts could really help speed up the leveling process.
Players will not be able to craft elixirs when they first start theirDiablo 4leveling journeybut will be able to unlock them as they complete quests and discover ingredients. Each elixir gives different bonuses and requires a different level to craft them. They are fairly easy to craft, but they do cost some gold, so players will want to ensure they have some on hand. These elixirs also do not stack, so players cannot become an overpowered experience-harvesting machine.
These elixirs can be very useful duringDiablo 4’s leveling experience, but they are not so overpowered that they are the only viable way to level.Diablo 4speedrunnerswill definitely want to get their hands on them, but players that want to take their time are not forced to use elixirs. Leveling does not feel that slow nor does it feel boring, but that could change as players level up more characters. However, if players do want to speed up the process a bit, then these items are perfect.
In their current form,Diablo 4’s elixirs are a nice little bonus item for anyone who wants to utilize them. There is a chance that Blizzard will rework these items as the years go by, but that remains to be seen. For now, players should just enjoy the ride and use elixirs to their heart’s content, as long as they make sure not to buy too many.
Diablo 4releases June 6 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
