The Thousand Beast Pirates,also known simply as The Beasts Pirates, is one of the biggest and most dangerous pirates in the world ofOne Piece. It reportedly has over 20,000 members under its banner, with over 500 of them having devil fruit powers. It’s not even an exaggeration to say that it is one of the most powerful pirate crews in history.
So let’s use this chance to find out where it all began, what it looks like inside this terrifying pirate crew, and finally, let’s talk about the biggest crimes that they have committed.
The Origin of The Beasts Pirates
The history of the Thousand Beasts Pirates began with its captain, the mighty Kaidou. He was born and raised in the Vodka Kingdom, a small nation that was struggling to paythe World Government’s Heavenly Tribute.By the age of 10, he was already way stronger than anybody in the Kingdom and was subsequently sold by the king to the Marine. To nobody’s surprise, Kaidou decided to escape and go on a rampage wherever he went, becoming a fugitive by the age of 15.
Kaidou’s absurd strength caught the attention ofone of the most powerful and dangerous pirates at the time,the legendary Rocks pirates. He soon became a member of the Rocks, along with other big names like Whitebeard and Big Mom. After years of conquests and destruction, the God Valley incident happened, and the Rocks pirate was disbanded forever, leaving each member to their own devices. Whitebeard created the Whitebeard pirates, Big Mom started her infamous Big Mom pirates, and Kaidou founded the Beasts pirates.
In the beginning, Kaidou only invited several powerful individuals as part of his newly-created pirate crew,such as King, Queen, and Jack.But as time went by, the crew got bigger and bigger. Within the next decade, the Beasts Pirates had already grown into one of the strongest and most dangerous pirate crews in the world, prompting the Marines to name him one of the Four Emperors of the Sea. But it wasn’t until they forcefully took over Wano Country and turned it into their base of operation that the Beast Pirate grew into a 20,000-strong pirate fleet.
The Executives
Every pirate crew of the Four Emperors during Kaidou’s time (Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Red Hair) has some level of structure within their respective organization.Whitebeard with his 16 divisionsthat were founded based on merit and achievement, whereas Big Mom’s Commanders and Officers were based on power and familial relationship. As for the Thousand Beasts Pirates, it’s all about strength. The strong will be on top, while the weak will stay below.
Just like any other pirate crew, the Beasts Pirates are centered around its captain, also known as the Governor-General, the one and only Kaidou. Right below him are his three generals (King, Queen, and Jack) also known as the All-Stars. These three are by far the strongest individuals in the entire crew, withpower on par with Marine Admirals.
Below each All-Star are the second-grade officers called the Headliners,most of whom are devil fruit users.The six strongest Headliners (Page One, Black Maria, Ulti, Sasaki, Who’s-who, and X Drake) are called the Tobiroppo. They are the leaders of the Headliners. Conquered pirates like Hawkins and Apoo are also part of the Headliners.
Apart from Kaido, the All-Stars, the Headliners, and the Tobiropppo make up the bulk firepower of the Beasts Pirates. There may only be a couple hundred of them in total, but they have the strength to defeat any pirate crews out there. But if they want to take on the World Government and the Marines, which is what Kaido intended to do, then they will need more people within their ranks. That is where the next group comes in.
The Soldiers
There are three main groups of soldiers under the headliners. The Gifters, the Pleasures, and the Waiters. The Gifters are those who have consumed and masteredthe artificial zoan devil fruit powers.There are about 500 of them. Their strength varies from one individual to the next, but they are still considerably more powerful than an average pirate.
The Pleasures are those who have consumed the artificial devil fruits but failed to gain any meaningful powers. There are about 4500 of them, and although they may not be as strong as the Gifters, they are still valuable as loyal soldiers. And then there are the Waiters, which are those who are waiting to eatthe artificial devil fruits.They may be a bunch of low-level soldiers, but there are thousands of them.
Other than those three large groups of soldiers, there are also several elite groups that have specific roles and duties in the Beast Pirates. There’s the Armored Division, the surveillance corps called the Marys, and a group of ten giants who are called the Numbers. Most of these groups consist of selected individuals from the Headliners and the Gifters.
The Invasion of Wano
Asone of the most powerful and vicious pirate crew in history,the Thousand Beasts Pirates have committed countless atrocities throughout the decades. Its biggest sin, however, remains to be the invasion and subsequent occupation of the Wano Country.
Around ten years after the God Valley incident that led to the foundation of the Thousand Beasts Pirates, a member of the disgraced Kurozumi family of Wano approached Kaidou with a sinister proposition. In exchange for letting him take over Wano and build extensive weapon factories in the country, they asked Kaidou to helpKurozumi Orochi be the new Shogun of Wano. Kaidou gladly received such a tempting offer.
Through years of deceptions and betrayals, Orochi managed to snatch the seat of Shogun from the ruling Kozuki family. And with the Thousand Beast pirates backing him, nobody dared to go against Orochi.
Orochi might be the Shogun, but everybody knew that the one who ran Wano was actually Kaidou. As the new base of the Thousand Beasts Pirates, Kaidou immediately enslaved the people of Wano, forcing them to work in his weapon factories. Those who dared to challenge him would be beaten down and imprisoned for life. As for the rest, they have to live in a constant state of terror with barely anything to get by. This horrific situation kept on going for over two decadesuntil the Straw Hats pirates came to the country.
