AnOverwatch 2player discovered a creative counter to Mercy’s revive ultimate while using Lifeweaver. BothOverwatch 2Support heroesare known for their healing and other abilities that greatly help their allies during matches.Ever since the firstOverwatch, Mercy has been a popular choice because of her Resurrect ability, which used to revive anyone within a certain radius. The ability has since been nerfed to revive only one teammate at a time. Now, with the addition ofLifeweaver, many Support mains inOverwatch 2have managed to change up their plays to fully utilize the hero’s rescue abilities, alongside his healing.RELATED:Overwatch 2 Player Shows Off Wild Sombra and Ramattra Rollout TrickOne of the aforementioned rescue abilities is Petal Platform, which is a platform that springs upward when Lifeweaver or other players step on it. This specific ability, as Twitter user Marsh_Plays discovered in theirOverwatch 2game, can apparently be used to cancel Mercy’s Resurrect. In the clip, an enemy player died by a doorway, but before Mercy could go near the glowing orb to revive them, a player aptly named Wifeleaver used Petal Platform to steal it. Viewers of the clip could clearly see the Mercy stop in her tracks after her ultimate got wasted.

Many Twitter users seemed amazed by the Lifeweaver trick, and saying that they’ll try to replicate it in their next match. One joked that Lifeweaver was “finally good,” probably realizing that they can use his abilities to disrupt other heroes' moves. The clip might just inspire other players to pull off equally annoying plays using the support hero.

This isn’t the first time Lifeweaver was used to ruin Ultimates. One Symmetra player shared that theirLifeweaver teammate accidentally canceled their Ultimatewhen they were grabbed with Life Grip. This ability is meant to pull allies towards Lifeweaver, protecting them as they travel. While it’s possible that the player might be protecting them from danger, it can still be annoying to have one’s Ultimate ability wasted like that, especially when it was caused by a teammate.

Despite some of the concernsOverwatch 2players have about Lifeweaver, likeissues with his healingand his hitbox, those who’ve played him continue to discover unique interactions with other heroes' abilities and how they could counter certain abilities. Lifeweaver has indeed brought an interesting dynamic toOverwatch 2, which will be exciting to see evolve in future games. Whether he’ll be nerfed, buffed, or adjusted in another way will be completely up to the Blizzard devs.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
