Players will technically be near the Peng Treasure inchapter one while exploringthe cargo area, but it is not accessible at the time. It’s not until chapter 11 that they can seek it out. After entering the Cargo Bay, players get the objective to “Engage the Cargo Crane” and need to take the lift down.

Once in the lower level, exit the elevator, and hook a sharp left behind the lift. The treasure is found behind two large storage crates that players must move using Kinesis. Be wary of any enemies that may approach while moving the containers.

Once the containers are out of the way, players will see two lockers and a Peng poster against the wall next to them. The Peng Treasure is inside the furthest locker on the left. This is the only time players have access to the Peng Treasure, so it’s imperative to find it before continuing chapter 11 and interacting with the Red Marker. It can later be sold at the store for 30,000 credits if players want topurchase any upgrade nodes.

Who is Peng?

Who or what Peng is is not necessarily coveredin theDead Spacefranchise. Instead, players must use context clues from posters and written memos to piece together what the Peng Treasure could be in reference to. There are theories that Peng could represent a concept such as fame, drugs, or even erotic entertainment with statements such as “There’s always Peng” and “I want more Peng” accompanying the word.

One interesting thing to note is images and depictions of beautiful women usually accompany Peng. The Peng Treasure is a small gold statue of a woman, which supports the idea that it could be related to attractiveness or the concept of becoming beautiful.

However, there has been no confirmation on any of these theories, but members of the development team have said that Peng isn’t what it may seem and that it’s something theDead Spacefranchise could expand on. Nevertheless, locating the treasure rewards players with 30,000 credits and the trophy, “There’s Always Peng!”

Dead Spaceis available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
