APokemonfan and artist has designed a new form for Generation 2 Bug/Poison-type Pokemon Spinarak that includes a brand-new third evolution. In all the main seriesPokemongames that it’s featured, Spinarak evolves into Ariados once it manages to reach level 22.
Spinarak and Ariados have not gotten much attention since their debut in the Generation 2Pokemongames. While some older Pokemon have received new forms, including regional variants, paradox forms,Mega Evolutions, and more, Game Freak has largely ignored Spinarak and Ariados. Now onePokemonfan has taken matters into their own hands, designing new forms for both Spinarak and Ariados and giving Ariados an evolution of its own.
Reddit user dhio_art recently shared their vision for a Ground/Poison-type variant of Spinarak. This version of Spinarak has a brown, black, purple, and pink color scheme, with added spikes. The new version of Ariados retains this new color scheme and more aggressive features, with even more spikes. The user also created a brand-new Pokemon called Venotrarspex, which serves as the third evolution in this newSpinarak line. Venotrarspex is themed after trapdoor spiders and is larger than its predecessors, with some fur added to its body.
Not content to just show new typing for Spinarak and its evolutions, dhio_art also created shiny variants for the creatures.Shiny Pokemonare extremely rare variants that give existing Pokemon different color schemes. In the case of dhio_art’s Spinarak and its evolutions, Spinarak gets a green tint, Ariados gets yellow, and Venotrarspex becomes grey and green.
Since Game Freak has mostly ignored Spinarak and Ariados since they were introduced all the way back in theGeneration 2Pokemongames, it seems highly unlikely that new variants for the creatures will ever be introduced, though stranger things have happened. It’s possible that Game Freak may continue to introduce paradox forms for existing Pokemon, either in the upcomingPokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC or the eventual Generation 10 games, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath.
Regional variants are a more likely possibility, though still a long shot for Spinarak and Ariados. Still,Pokemonfans won’t know for sure if new versions of these creatures are coming to theGeneration 10Pokemongamesor not until the games and their roster of Pokemon are actually revealed. With Game Freak still working on DLC forPokemon Scarlet and Violetand Nintendo getting ready to launch a brand-new console next year, fans will likely have to wait quite some time before they’ll get to learn about the Generation 10Pokemongames.
