A creativePokemon Scarlet and Violetfan imagined the ancient Paradox form of Swoobat, the cute dual-type Psychic/Flying Pokemon introduced in Generation 5. Artists have been imagining new versions of Pokemon since the release ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetand the introduction of Paradox forms, offering a new look at some popular pocket monsters.
Paradox Pokemon are a new kind of creature introduced with the release ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetin 2022.Pokemon Scarletfeatured Paradox Pokemon, which look like ancient versions of contemporary creatures, whilePokemon Violetintroduced their futuristic versions. Both ancient and future Paradox Pokemon bear the same traits as contemporary Pokemon but come with a different dual type than their modern counterpart and cannot evolve or breed. Besides the legendary Koraidon and Miraidon, Paradox Pokemon have names describing their appearances, such as Great Tusk and Flutter Mane, respectively the ancient Paradox versions of Donphan and Misdreavus.

APokemon Scarlet and Violetfan known as Rickashade21 on Reddit shared their latest creation, anancient Paradox formof Swoobat. This creature, named Shifting Wave, kept the heart-shaped nose and cute fangs of Swoobat but made its body longer than the existing Pokemon. Shifting Wave stands on four legs instead of flying around like Swoobat, its ears are lowered and not standing straight like its contemporary counterpart, and it has a long pink tail ending with a heart-shaped twist.
This creation is not the first one Rickashade21 has shared on Reddit. The artist already created a future Paradox version for Swoobat, called Iron Heart, which looks like Swoobat met with a cute robot. They also shared artwork of Absol and Alcremie, as well as various fan art of existing Pokemon including a drawing of a shy version of Banette, the creepyGhost-type Pokemonintroduced in Generation 3. On top of creating their own original artwork, the artist regularly takes commissions fromPokemonfans wanting to get a new look at their favorite pocket monsters.
Ever since the introduction of Paradox versions inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, artists have been sharing their creative take on the ancient and future versions of existing creatures. Pokemon fans imagine what their favorite pocket monster would look like if they had a Paradox version, leading them to share drawings ofParadox forms of popular Pokemon like Sharpedo, the cute Water-based Pokemon Wooper, or a funny version of Wobbuffet. While fans are creating countless versions of Paradox creatures,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetonly count a total of 16 Paradox Pokemon in total, including Koraidon and Miraidon.
