Players will not only receive Bonus XP when making successful Nice, Great, Excellent, and Curveball Throws, but also have the opportunity to complete a special Timed Research, andevent-exclusive Ghost-themed Researchtasks. The “Catch Mastery: Ghost” Field Research tasks are set to include Mega Gengar Energy, Ghost-type encounters as rewards, and Drifloon will be appearing much more frequently in the wild.

Shiny Drifloon is obtainable, but only Drifloon’s spawn rate itself is boosted so players unfortunately should not expect to encounter more Shiny Drifloon than usual. That said, theCatch Mastery: Ghost eventgives players ample opportunities to capture Drifloon, so a Shiny isn’t totally out of the question.

Rewards:Costumed Gengar Encounter*, 1,500 XP, 40 Gengar Mega Energy

As seen, players will have near nonstop opportunities to catch as many Drifloon as they can, and with all the passive XP bonuses, players should be sure to use their Lucky Eggs. By the end of this Timed Research, Trainers will have earned at least100 Mega Gengar Energy, and if they’ve been taking advantage of local event-exclusive Field Research tasks as well, that number should be a bit greater.
