Pokemon Scarlet and Violetwill be introducing a brand-new Auto Battles feature to the series called Let’s Go. Nintendo and Game Freak recently released a new trailer forPokemon Scarlet and Violetthat primarily focused on the new antagonist group Team Star and revealed three new Pokemon. The trailer made no mention of the Let’s Go feature, but it was later detailed on the officialPokemon Scarlet and Violetwebsite.
In the olderPokemongames, the only way players were able to level up their Pokemon was by using them in battles. However, newer games in the series have given players more ways to earn experience points and level up, like with Exp Share.Exp Sharegives experience points to Pokemon in one’s party even if they didn’t actually participate in the fight. The Auto Battles will be a new way for players to level up their Pokemon in a non-traditional way.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Auto Battles are triggered by utilizing the Let’s Go feature on the Pokemon that players have out exploring with them in thePaldea region. Players are able to choose any direction they want to send the Pokemon off in. That Pokemon will then spend its time participating in battles and collecting items, independent of the player character.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers can choose to accompany their Pokemon while they’re off fighting in Auto Battles, but they can also leave them to their devices. More specifics on exactly how this feature works, like how long it lasts, has not been revealed at the time of this writing.
It’s possible that future trailers will showPokemon Scarlet and VioletAuto Battles in action, but one would think that if Nintendo was interested in showing them off in video form, it would have done so in the latest trailer. Instead, thenewPokemon Scarlet and Violettrailerwas mostly focused on NPCs that players will be meeting in the Paldea region.
ThePokemon Scarlet and Violetrelease date is still a couple of months away, and so one has to imagine that there will be more trailers between now and then for fans to check out, even if Auto Battles aren’t featured in them. Reputable leakers have suggested thatPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill add over 100 new Pokemonto the franchise, and with only a handful revealed so far, it’s likely that there will be many more Pokemon unveilings before the games launch in November.
