AsCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2imminently approaches its one-year anniversary, CharlieIntel took to Twitter to point out that some players on Xbox and PC have discovered Oni in their operator menus after this most recent update. While the PlayStation exclusive operator appears fully unlocked, some fans under the tweet add that they’re unable to actually equip the operator on these platforms. It’s important to note that only the base Oni skin is appearing as unlocked, and not any of his other skins.
DespiteXbox having recently closed its $69 billion purchase of Activisionwith plans to eliminateCall of Duty’s exclusive PlayStation content, this is more than likely a just simple mistake, as Xbox won’t gain full control overCall of Dutyuntil 2024’s entry. This is supported by the fact that Oni, who is set to officially become available on Xbox and PC in just over a week, isn’t able to be fully equipped by players on these platforms. Even though Xbox now owns Activision, PlayStation still has exclusive marketing rights forCall of DutythroughModern Warfare 3, and has already confirmed an exclusive operator named Lockpick forMW3’s launch next month.
Regardless of whether this early Oni appearance will be fixed or if Activision just lets it slide for a week, Xbox and PC players who officially gain access to Oni on October 27 will be able to carry him over toModern Warfare 3when it launches two weeks later on November 10. AsModern Warfare 2winds down with what many are calling the bestWarzoneevent ever in The Haunting, players are eagerly awaitingModern Warfare 3, as its recent open beta has received a ton of praise with its improved movement and remadeModern Warfare 2(2009) maps.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
