Sledge does not nearly get enough respect inRainbow Six Extraction. Many players will, mistakenly, believe they can just shoot through walls easily, so his hammer isn’t useful. But shooting wastes ammo and doesn’t always make holes players can go through. Sledge always leaves a human-sized gap.

Additionally, an underutilized element of the ability is that it can stun enemies that get close. This might not seem especially important against a drone, but against a boss, this is a top-tier effect. With the right buildout, Sledge deserves to be thought of as one of the best operators thatRainbow Six Extractionhas to offer.

Primary Weapon - M590A1

As a close-range combatant, it should come as no surprise that Sledge should definitely be using a shotgun during his encounters. Many operators have to level up for a while to get the gun they want but Sledge starts with one ofthe best guns in the gameright away.

Keep in mind that Sledge, and all operators, should try their best to be stealthy. That doesn’t go away when knocking over a wall. The shotgun is purely for mistakes and for objectives that don’t permit stealth. Both of these situations happen often enough, though, that the M590A1 will never be a waste.

Secondary Weapon - P226 Mk 25

The guy with the hammer might not look stealthy, but the P226 Mk 25 with a suppressor makes Sledge just as silent as Vigil when it comes to eliminating opponents. Of all theoperators in need of immediate upgrades, Sledge gets access to his best weapons right away, so feel free to hold off on his advancements.

The damage might not look intense, especially next to the shotgun, but it will kill any enemy at any range with a shot to the weak spot. This should be treated as the primary weapon until things go south. it might not feel Sledge-like, but it is critical to success.

Explosive Tech - Arc Mine

Usually, going point-blank with a boss is a great way to end up spending extra timehealing between missions. But Sledge has no issue stunning any opponents after he’s advanced to level ten. And he has a unique gadget to help him take advantage of this.

The Arc Mine is considered worse than the Claymore for most characters because the Claymore’s burst is better than a few shots fired from the Arc Mine. But Sledge can stun an opponent directly in first of one (or more) Arc Mines. This damage is too much for an elite opponent to survive.

Gear - XR Recon Drone

The biggest worry for Sledge is that he’ll bash a wall in for a shortcut and end up alerting everything in the next room. To keep this bash as safe as possible, simply activate the XR Recon Drone first. It’s automated, unlike the other drone, so Sledge has his hands free to hammer away.

The range isn’t perfect, but it’s enough to see what’s on the other side of the wall and that’s all that matters. More importantly, this device does not have to be resupplied, it refreshes every 30 seconds, so, after clearing a room quietly, it should be up for the hammer into the next room.
