Horror fans across the globe are eagerly awaiting the arrival of theResident Evil 4remake, and it looks as though gamers will get their first taste of it, as it’s been suggested that the demo will be rolling out some time today. As one of the most beloved entries in one of themost influential horror game franchisesof all time,RE4was more than just another entry in Capcom’s iconic series. It switched up the formula in ways that are still being felt today.Given this legendary status, it’s hardly surprising that so many are excited about the upcoming reimagining. While it will likely appeal to those who fondly recall the original, theResident Evil 4remake will also be changing up some things, making it more suitable for modern audiences. The information comes from an ad on Twitch, which says the demo is “available now.” However, a cursory glance online shows that it’s not here just yet. A report from WCCFTech says that someone may have “pushed the button” for the advert a little too soon, but it certainly looks as though it’s on its way, possibly within the next few hours. If true, the demo is likely to start rolling out after the showcase, at least according to MauroNL.
TheCapcom showcase is going ahead at 2:30 PM PST, in which the developer will be showing off more fromRE4as well as some other titles, includingMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakand theMega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. However, it’s almost certainly going to be the remake ofResident Evil 4that’s going to be the main focus, so a lot of eyes and ears will be focussing on the event. Hopefully, the demo for the game will be available at that point, as has been suggested.
As well as adding content to suit contemporary gamers,Resident Evil 4looks to also be toning down the cheese. It will likely still retain that B-movie vibe that made the original 2005 release such a classic, but it appears as though, similar to the remakes ofRE2andRE3, Capcom wants to go for a darker tone overall.
