ResidentEvilVillagelaunched less than a week ago, and many players already finished it, while others are looking forward to starting their journey into the new chapter in the survival horror saga.Resident Evilturns 25 this year, similarly to thePokemonfranchise, and Capcom’s idea to celebrate was releasing bothResident Evil VillageandResident Evil Re:Versein 2021, surprising fans by makingRe:Versepart of thebundle forResident EvilVillage. While this multiplayer installment of theResident Evilseries is not out yet, it won’t be long before players will be able to blast iconicREheroes into oblivion, only to be attacked by dangerous Bioweapons.

The premise ofResident Evil Re:Verseis that gamers will be able to control Humans, all popular characters from the previous entries in the series, and challenge other players to deathmatch battles lasting five minutes. Each deathmatch includes a minimum of four and a maximum of six players. Weapons and items can be found throughout the map, and the starting kit is determined by the character that players select, including a set of skills unique to that character.

Resident Evil Re:Verse - Characters, Release Date, and Bioweapons

WhileResident Evil Re:Verseis free for all players who purchasedResident EvilVillage, this multiplayer game is not out yet.Re:Verseis scheduled to release during this summer, with no specific release window for now. However,Re:Verselooks like aResident Evilgame in terms of how dour the setting is, but it will be innovative in how lighthearted the approach here is compared to other titles in the franchise. There are six different Human characters to choose from, and five Bioweapons these characters can turn into.

The Human characters are Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Ada Wong, and finally Hunk.Chris is probably one of the most popular charactersin the franchise, and he plays a big role in the latest mainline game of the franchise as well. The game will also see a return of some evil characters as Bioweapons, such as the creepy, ax-wielding Jack Baker fromResident Evil:Biohazard, and Nemesis-T Type, one of the experimental Bio Organic Weapons created by Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. Other Bioweapons include Hunter Gamma, Fat Molded, and Tyrant T-103.

Resident Evil Village in Re:Verse, and The Future of RE Multiplayer

It is unclear at this point if Capcom will expandResident Evil Re:Versein the future, depending on how well its received and the general feedback from the fans. However, there are many other characters that this multiplayer deathmatch game could include. Some of those introduced inResident Evil Villagewould perfectly fit the setting, like the towering Lady Dimitrescu standing alongside Nemesis. For example,Karl Heisenberg could turn into a Lycanon death, instead of becoming one of the aforementioned Bioweapons, and Mia Winters could become a playable character as well, turning into Mother Miranda.

Considering how Capcom has tried to adaptResident Evilgamesinto multiplayer titles for a long time, it is not impossible thatRe:Verse’s popularity could help the game expand over time into something far greater. Otherwise,Resident Evil Re:Versecould be a springboard for another separate online multiplayer game moving forward. Either way, all those who picked upResident Evil Villagewill get a chance to tryRe:Verselater this year.

Resident Evil Villageis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
