When Epic Games acquired Psyonix, some changes were made toRocket League’s monetization. Notably, the game started receiving seasonal battle passes featuring unique cosmetics that players could mix and match. Psyonix has long brought seasonal challenges and rewards to the game, but the battle passes have encouraged some players to stick around for longer. HowRocket Leagueplayers purchase new cars and parts also saw adjustment since the acquisition. With another season set to begin in early 2024, Psyonix has confirmed several details about what’s to come.

In a recentRocket Leagueupdate, Psyonix confirmed that the Play menu and Playlists will be receiving some changes. According to the notes, the Play menu will feature submenus that streamline the experience and make it easier for players to choose the mode that they want. This is the first redesign of the Play menu since the game became free-to-play in 2020, and it will aesthetically change to a squared-off design. Online, Competitive, and Arcade playlists will also be revamped next season, with a weekly rotation changing some of the available modes. This means that one week may focus on Drop Shot, while another features Snow Day.

Seemingly based on fan feedback, players will soon be able to queue for multipleRocket Leaguegame modesat the same time. Rather than limiting the matchmaking to one search per player, the new season will allow gamers to queue for up to six different modes. The next season also includes two new game modes for the Arcade Playlist. These unconfirmed modes will join Heatseeker, Spike Rush, Rocket Labs, Dropshot, and Snow Day. 4v4 Chaos is becoming the Big Party Playlist next season, and it will rotate with Knockout mode. Psyonix has also confirmed that theRocket Leaguecommunity will play a role in upcoming quality-of-life changes that may improve the gaming experience.

Although Psyonix is openly discussingRocket League’s next season, it’s currently unclear when it will be released.Rocket LeagueSeason 12 included the Porsche 911 Turbo, the Neo Tokyo arena variant, and a Halloween-themed event. Given thatPsyonix regularly updatesRocket League, these changes may be the first of many that refresh the content.
