Call of Dutyreleases are some of the biggest every year. It has already been confirmed by publisher Activision that there will be a newCall of Dutysometime later this year, but there has yet to be any official information announced beyond that.
The newCall of Dutywill be a follow-up to last year’sCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and will have tointegrate with the popular battle royale modeCall of Duty: Warzone.Call of Duty 2021also promises to bring a full campaign, multiplayer experience, and co-op mode when it launches, meaning that developer Sledgehammer Games has quite the daunting task ahead of them.

While a lot of rumors have begun circulating aboutCall of Duty 2021, games industry insider Jeff Grubb has reportedly heard rumors that the newCall of Dutytitle may not even have its own multiplayer mode. Grubb made the statement in a new video uploaded to YouTube earlier today, where he reports that the game is experiencing some major problems on the multiplayer side of development.Call of Duty 2021has already had rumors of troubled developmentcome out, and Grubb says that those problems mostly pertain to the game’s multiplayer mode.
Grubb says that he has also heard rumors about a remaster ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer that may be used as a substitute. Rumors have come out aboutCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2Multiplayer being remasteredbefore, and Grubb is saying that it is possible the remaster will simply replace the multiplayer ofCall of Duty 2021. The mode replacing the multiplayer component would be a first for the series, but it would come afterCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign was remastered as a DLC for 2019’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfare.
The move to replace the new title’s multiplayer with a remaster would be a pretty big one for theCall of Dutyseries. While the rumors of a troubled development are still just rumors, Sledgehammer Games' newest entry in the series was originally meant to release last year but was replaced after the studio reportedly experienced issues during development. A remaster ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer would also likely be easier to integrate withCall of Duty: Warzone, asCall of Duty 2021is expected to be set during World War 2which would clash with the battle royale’s more modern setting. However, fans shouldn’t have too much longer to wait, as it is expected thatCall of Duty 2021will have an official reveal sometime soon, possibly during this year’s E3.
Call of Duty 2021is confirmed to be in development and is aiming for a release later this year.
