2021 marks the 25th anniversary of Nintendo’sPokemonfranchise, which stands as one of the biggest and most consistently popular video game franchises ever produced. Nintendo is expected to celebrate the 25th anniversary ofPokemonin style, similarly to how it has celebrated theSuper Mario35th anniversary with the release of theSuper Mario 3D All-Starscollection on Switch. While Nintendo’sPokemonplans for 2021 have yet to be confirmed, a new leak may shed some light on what the company has in store for fans of the monster-catching franchise.

The leak stems from 4chan, and so fans should take it with a massive grain of salt. However, legitimatePokemonleaks have come from the controversial site before, including a slew ofPokemon SwordandShieldleaksthat all turned out to be 100% accurate. With that disclaimer in mind, this newPokemonleak claims that Nintendo has aPokemon Super Collectionin the works for Switch, with the collection set to launch at some point in March 2021.

If the leak is to be believed, this supposedPokemon Super Collectionwill includePokemon XandY,Omega RubyandAlpha Sapphire, andSunandMoon. The leaker then says that there will be two other games in the lineup, though they weren’t specified. Presumably, there will be two versions of the collection released as opposed to both versions of the same game appearing in the collection. After all, it would be kind of strange to have a collection that includes bothPokemon XandPokemon Y, as they are virtually the same experience with just minor changes.

The leaker goes on to say thatUltra SunandUltra Moonare not part of the collection, which also seems like a weird choice. As for what the two unnamed games could be, it seems one likely explanation is that the games would beFireRedandLeafGreen, as well asHeartGoldandSoulSilver. And if so, that could explain why Nintendo decided to renew theHeartGoldandSoulSilvertrademarksrecently.

Then again, Generation 1Pokemonis already well-represented on Switch thanks toPokemon Let’s Go PikachuandLet’s Go Eevee. Considering this, maybePokemon BlackandWhitewill be part of the collection instead ofFireRedandLeafGreen. This would make almost everyPokemongeneration accessible on Switch in some capacity.

As forPokemon DiamondandPearl, rumor has it that full-fledgedDiamondandPearlremakesare in the works, and if so, that could explain why they aren’t part of the collection. Of course, fans should keep in mind that it’s entirely possible that this collection isn’t even real, and so they should keep their expectations in check. The only guaranteed upcomingPokemonvideo game experiences are theCrown TundraDLC forSwordandShield,New Pokemon Snap, and the mobile MOBAPokemon Unite.
