Following Mixer’s official shutdown on July 23, Mixer-exclusive streamers like Ninja and Shroud had to decide which streaming platform they would turn to next. Still, apparentlyShroud and Ninja rejected amounts of moneyhigher than most people could imagine from Facebook Gaming to transition after Mixer was shut down.
Now, both streamers have made to returns toTwitchreceiving very high view counts, Shroud in particular commented on the performance of his first stream back. Shroud was apparently somewhat shocked at his viewer count for his return stream, as he noted in a recent livestream.

While Shroud’s return stream started off on rocky ground, the stream ended up being a rousing success when all was said and done.Shroud’s return drew a huge audiencewith around 500,000 viewers in total tuning in over the course of the stream. Even more, Shroud drew in an impressive 13,000 new Twitch subscriptions just off of one stream. While the stream was an hour late due to technical difficulties, after making sure things were working smoothly Shroud playedValorantfor nearly six hours.
Shroud’s choice ofValorantonly served to help Shroud’s viewer count as the game has been incredibly popular on the platform, andShroud was teasingValorantcontentahead of his return stream. However, during his stream Shroud admitted he only expected around 200,000 viewers tops to show up. Instead, Shroud saw over 300,000 more than that. During the midst of his viewership peak Shroud said, “I don’t know why there are so many of you here, but I appreciate it. I’m just a normal dude who likes to play games a lot. It’s crazy, man. Crazy.”
While Shroud may have been surprised by his view count, which is incredibly high in all fairness, it’s not too surprising that many viewers were on the lookout for Shroud’s first stream back. Ever sinceShroud announced his return to Twitch, media outlets have been covering and speculating the streamer’s every move. Additionally, Shroud’s enormous following was probably more than happy to see him return to Twitch as opposed to an alternative streaming platform, as it’s undoubtedly the most popular streaming platform currently just based on numbers alone.
Now thatShroud is officially back at Twitch, he just has to keep the insane momentum he has built up with his first stream rolling. Though it’s natural that his total viewership may see a bit of a dip in subsequent streams as viewers who were only interested in the return stream phase out, Shroud already has a fairly rock solid viewer base as it is. Regardless, it seems that Shroud is very pleased with his return to Twitch.
