SomeOverwatch 2players have purportedly had to face a huge amount of harassment from other players during matches due to their decision to play as Doomfist, with some unfortunate fans even having their accounts banned due to mass-reporting from other players. While Doomfist himself is not a new addition to theOverwatch 2roster by any means, there’s no doubt that he has received some of the biggest changes out of all the heroes so far.

While many characters saw their abilities, weapons, and health pools change slightly withthe adjustments made alongside the launch ofOverwatch 2, Doomfist even saw his role change as well, as the developers decided to change up the hero’s capabilities to better fit the Tank role instead of keeping him the fast-paced damage character that he used to be. Doomfist’s transition to the Tank role brought with it a number of tweaks, and while he now has a much larger health pool, it costs him greatly in terms of overall damage output. Partly due to his Rising Uppercut ability being replaced with a defensive move called Power Block, Doomfist now does a lot less damage with his combos than he used to.

Several unhappy fans have posted across forums such as Reddit and Twitter alike to shed light on the problems surrounding Doomfist mains at the moment. Players claim thatDoomfist’s poor damage outputand lack of defensive options for teammates are what render him a low-tier character compared to other tanks in the game. This is even more significant in the new 5v5 format, which forces teams to rely on only a single tank hero to take the hits. It appears that Doomfist’s ineptitude in combat is what leads to players reporting Doomfist mains in the hopes of getting them banned from participating in online matches.

Whileit’s safe to say that Doomfist is far from a popular choicein the game’s current meta, the fact that players are getting reported for playing as him suggests that he’s underpowered to the point that he’s interfering with many other players' experiences in the game.

Despite his shortcomings as a tank hero and his unpopularity among players, committed Doomfist players who have adjusted to the character’s changes are still able to use him to good effect, though often at their team’s expense nonetheless. ThoughBlizzard’s recent announcement of an upcoming balance patchdidn’t specify any imminent buffs to Doomfist, the developers did express their intention to review his capabilities along with those of other heroes during future seasons, giving fans hope that he will receive some much-requested buffs in the future.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
