Originally released for the PlayStation 4 in 2018,Marvel’s Spider-Manfinally arrived on PC on August 12. The remastered port proved to be a big hit with PC gaming fans, becomingSony’s second biggest launch on Steam.
However, few ports are perfect, and the PC release ofMarvel’s Spider-Manis no exception. Fortunately, the first patch is available now, introducing several bug fixes and visual improvements.

The patch upgradesMarvel’s Spider-Manto Version 1.817.1.0 and includes many graphics-related improvements. This includes fixing ray-tracing-related crashes and another ray-tracing bug that caused reflections on stainless steel to appear distorted. Developers also fixed an issue that causedSpider-Man’s side-missionpopups to appear stretched out on widescreen resolution. More graphics-related fixes include preventing game freezes when players switch graphics settings during cutscenes, along with addressing various unnamed visual glitches.
Spider-Manalso received visual improvements related to the HBOA+ andNvidia DLSS graphics software. Meanwhile, non-graphics-related improvements include one that makes the game better at checking which version of Windows players are using, preventing false positives. Developers also report fixing some stability issues when players Alt-Tab out of the game.
Insomniac and Nixxes published the patch notes forSpider-Man’s version 1.817.1.0 alongside a joint statement describing it as a “first small patch.” However, the developers reported that they are already working on a more substantial patch that should address some of the feedback they have received from players. This hopefully includes addressing the three known but unresolved issues listed amongSpider-Man’s patch notes. These include players not having access toMarvel’s Spider-Man’s ray tracingoptions, even if they otherwise should. The game disables ray-tracing on unsupported hardware or if DirectX 12’s Agility SDK isn’t functioning. However, some players report that Agility SDK isn’t working with the game, and developers are investigating the problem.
The PC version ofMarvel’s Spider-Manalso has two progression-related bugs. One is a frame-rate bug that stops players from progressing the Spider-Hack Mission. It only occurs above 60 FPS, and developers are investigating the problem. In the meantime,Spider-Manplayers can get around the bug by reverting to the previous checkpoint and setting the game to Exclusive Fullscreen and the Refresh Rate to 60Hz from the Graphics Menu. Developers say that players can return to their preferred settings after progressing the mission.
The final unresolved bug relates toSpider-Man’s photo modefeature. Players have reported not being able to take a picture of the Empire State Building, blocking progression. Developers believe that this bug only affects players with Intel GPUs. Insomniac and Nixxes have reported the problem to Intel, who is reportedly looking into the issue. Hopefully, developers will fix all three of these remaining problems very soon.
Marvel’s Spider-Manis available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
