Splatoon 3players are getting a chance to get a sneak peek at the highly-anticipated sequel to the mega-popular squid shooter. With the release of the newestSplatoononly a couple of weeks away, Nintendo released theSplatfest World Premiere Demo. Players are able to try out the game’s standard Splatfest battles throughout the first half of the event, with the second half shifting to the new Tricolor Turf Wars. Now, reports are coming out that some cheaters are already receiving bans before the demo.
ProminentSplatoon 3leaker OatmealDome confirmed that Nintendo has already begun to issue bans to some players before the event even begins. The bans reportedly revolve around a patch circulating throughout the community that would allow players to access the game’s Test Range early. While the data miner did not share much about the workings of the security system, they did elaborate that the bans could potentially be full bans from Nintendo Switch Online’s services as a whole.

Nintendo’s hard-line stance against cheaters inSplatoon 3would not be a new thing as the company has often come down hard on cheaters and hardware modification. Nintendo has frequently implemented sweeping bans against players in popular online games likePokemon Sword and Shieldfor altering save files and the use of cheat devices. Nintendo’s game-specific bans often come with service-wide bans from its Nintendo Switch Online service, taking a clear “no tolerance” policy with regard to cheaters.
Splatoon 3follows in the footsteps ofSplatoon 2, which had implemented its own anti-cheat system shortly following the game’s release in 2017. WithSplatoon 2being one of Nintendo’s most popular online games on the Switch, the system would actively run checks for players using mods in the game. Nintendo has also been heavily opposed to the use of emulators within the gaming community, taking actions to prevent players fromemulating Nintendo games on third-party software.
TheSplatoon 3demo comes as Nintendo has given fans plenty of reason to be excited about the newest edition in the franchise. Recent trailers have shown off new maps, new weapons, and even abrand-new card-based mini-game coming toSplatoon 3. Nintendo has also confirmed veteran players returning fromSplatoon 2will receive special rewards as a bonus incentive for migrating to the new game.Splatoon 3looks to be one of Nintendo’s biggest releases of the calendar year when it launches next month.
