Plenty of fans are looking forward to exploring the seedy criminal underbelly of the galaxy far, far away inStar Wars Outlaws, but the game might be skipping one of the industry’s most prominent digital platforms at launch. Ubisoft’s officialStar Wars Outlawswebpage lists all the platforms the game will be available on, such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Ubisoft Connect. However, there is no mention of Steam, which is often the go-to source for PC gaming releases. This has led some to suspect thatStar Wars Outlawswill only be made available on Ubisoft’s proprietary PC gaming store upon release.

Having been first introduced as Uplay in 2012, Ubisoft Connect has served as the publisher’s in-house center for digital game distribution, online multiplayer, and achievement/trophy management forUbisoft-published titles likeAssassin’s Creed MirageandWatch Dogs. While the service has suffered its fair share of criticism over the years, Ubisoft Connect users enjoy a wide range of features like cross-platform support. A recent leak suggests that Ubisoft could be looking to revamp Ubisoft Connect to more closely resemble the Epic Games Store.

Epic-published exclusives likeFortnitenotwithstanding, it is quite rare for aPC video game release to forgo Steamentirely, but it looks likeStar Wars Outlawscould be doing just that when it jumps into hyperspace next year. Of course, the lack of a Steam mention on the game’s webpage could just be a temporary oversight, orStar Wars Outlawscould be added to Steam at a later date, but for now it appears that the next triple-AStar Warsgame might not be available on Valve’s premiere PC game distribution platform at launch.
