Summary
Starfieldplayers have called attention to a surprising omission from the action RPG’s Outpost system, noting that for some reason there’s no way to add a shower to a player’s facilities. The Outpost feature isStarfield’s take onFallout 4’s Settlements, allowing players to claim an area as their home and build as they see fit. And while the Outpost system is very robust, it does have its quirks. The lack of showers is just one example, albeit quite a funny one.
Outposts inStarfieldare both one of the game’s most exciting features and yet entirely unnecessary to play and enjoy the game. Outposts are optional content, whereStarfieldplayers can build their own home base on a planet of their choosing. With some investment,Outposts can helpStarfieldplayers gather materialsfor crafting. But at its heart, Outposts are for players who want their own base, either for comfort or purely for the love of creating a home in space.

One gamer in theStarfieldcommunity on Reddit captured the essence of Outposts in the game with a serious yet silly post about showers. The post is titled “Why can’t we build showers in our outposts? They exist in other places.” The post is accompanied by an image of some showers that are found in-game, though it isn’t clear where the screenshot is from. The player seems to sincerely want Bethesda to add showers to the options players can place in their Outpost.
Many of the comments responding to theStarfieldshower post also take the subject seriously. The top comment asks Bethesda to release a “big update” just for the crafting system if only to add customization options or tofix issues with the current Outpost system. Others say showers are less of a priority than walls or a foundation for the Outpost. Many players refer toFallout 4’s Settlements in their requests and criticism.
Other comments make light of the post, assuming it was made as a joke. The insinuation is that Bethesda may not have included showers becauseStarfieldplayers won’t use them anyway.Starfieldis not without a sense of humor, though this was likely unintentional.
There’s no obvious answer as to whyStarfielddoesn’t allow players to craft showers for their Outposts. There likely isn’t an official answer coming anytime soon, either, nor an update to make showers available. It very likely is either an oversight or something that just wasn’t apriority to the Besthesda development team. If enoughStarfieldplayers request a more substantial update to Outposts, then perhaps Bethesda can make it a priority in the future.
Starfieldis available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
