As any self-respecting farming game should,Sun Havengives the player the choice plethora of potential love interests. Keeping track of the likes and dislikes of the game’s fifteen eligible singles will prove lifesaving when it comes to wooing that special someone.

While the game puts a distinct RPG-like twist on the genre,Sun Havenstays true toits roots as a farming simby offering 15 bachelors and bachelorettes from all walks of life with whom the player can fall in love. Each romance-able character offers not only a charming personality and compelling character arc, but also unique statistical benefits, making one’s choice of spouse just as much a strategic choice as it is a lifelong commitment.

Starting a Relationship

Each bachelor and bachelorette has a friendship value, denoted bya meter of hearts in their Relationships tab section. By default, the player has 0 hearts of friendship with each character, to a maximum of 10 for platonic relationships, 15 while dating, and 20 while married.

The player may raise a character’s friendship either through dialogue options, which may grant either positive or negative friendship depending on if it is appropriate for that character, as well as by gifting the character items, which may be done once each day per romance-able character.

Every romance-able character has their own preferences for gifts, which they may either:

Sun Haven Wedding Ceremony

Unless noted in their specific section, all characters love Red Rose Bouquets, Blue Rose Bouquets, and Havenite, and like prepared foods such as Cheeseburgers, BLTs, and Fried Rice, as well as gems. Characters always dislike being gifted back their Keepsake and wedding ring, as well as mount whistles and House Upgrade Kits.

At 2 hearts of friendship, characters begin treating the player as a friend. This unlocks new dialogue threads, and allows the player tovisit a character in their house. Each character’s house has an interactable node inside, usually a book or set of notes, which gives the player hints to that character’s likes and dislikes, making gifting to them easier.

Star Haven Banner Anne

When talking to a romance-able character withat least 7 hearts of friendshipfor the player, they may offer the player a date at a specific time and place. After the date (whether the player attends or not), the two officially begin dating, unlocking further dialogue and raising that character’s maximum hearts to 15. If the player misses the opportunity to initiate a date, they may get another chance by gifting a character a Love Letter, which may be bought from Bernard at the Town Hall for 1600 coins.

In order to get married to their partner, the player must satisfy two requirements.

Once both these requirements are met,the player may propose to their partnerby gifting them an Engagement Ring, which they may purchase from Bernard for 100 community tokens, earned by completing tasks on the Bulletin Board.

The day after proposing, the player and their partner will be married in a grand ceremony. Players are cautioned to avoid proposing marriage on the day before a festival, as a known oversight in the retail release of the game causes festivals to overwrite the player’s wedding date, preventing the marriage from going forward.

Falling in Love for Fun and Profit

While making friends with a romance-able character, they mayoffer the player a unique gift, known as a Keepsake. Keepsakes have their own dedicated equipment slot, and provide stat bonuses themed after the character who gifted them. The pool of Keepsakes the player has access to outside of friendship is very narrow, making it important for the player to maintain friendship with all their neighbors, even those they don’t intend to date or marry.

Characters will only give the player their respective Keepsake after they’ve had enough conversations, which varies from each character. Some characters will be willing to give up their Keepsake after only a few days of talking, while others will not reach that point in their dialogue tree until after they begin dating the player. The minimum relationship status needed to earn a character’s Keepsake will be listed in their bios below.

Sun Haven Banner Lynn

After getting married, the player will be given a wedding ring named for their spouse. Like Keepsakes, wedding rings provide stat bonuses themed after the player’s spouse. All wedding rings additionallyprovide +5% to experience gained while worn.

The player’s spouse offers the player new quests, in addition to those listed on the town’s Bulletin Board. These quests allow the player to earn some extra marginal rewards, as well as build their friendship with their spouse to the final maximum of 20.
