Reptile’s Indigestion
Reptile is back and more brutal than ever with a fatality that is undeniably as disgusting as it is fun to inflict on defeated opponents. First, Reptile disappears before suddenly appearing behind the staggered foe and swallowing them whole. After holding the opponent inside for a moment, Reptile then spits about half of them back up where they attempt to crawl away before finally being let out of their misery.
It’s a fantastically unique fatality that only a character like Reptile could pull off. It’s what often gives his character good fatalities among his many appearancesthroughout theMortal Kombatseries, a unique move set that gives him the use of kill moves that aren’t just stabbing or brute force. Not that stabbing and brute force can’t still be a lot of fun in such a game, of course.
Havik’s Heart-Wrencher
Havik makes a triumphant return inMortal Kombat 1as a primary character for the first time sinceMortal Kombat: Armageddonall the way back in 2006. His return is certainly no disappointment, as both of his fatalities are some of the biggest standouts in the game, and they’re certain to make even veteran players of the iconic fighting games wince a little bit.
In the history of the franchise’s bloody antics, somehow there’s still a decent amount of shock factor to watching a man rip open his own chest and pull out his own heart, just to put it in somebody else’s chest so they can explode. It’s one of those fatalities some players might need to watch a couple of times just to fully comprehend what they just witnessed.
Scorpion’s Team-Up
A Scorpion fatality in 2023 needs to be carefully crafted. The stakes are even higher than the bar set by the series considering the fighter from hell has had some of the most iconic fatalities in history, on top of just generally having next to the most sinceScorpion is in everyMortal Kombatgame. NetherRealm manages to pull off a unique kill for Scorpion that’s also a love letter to the character through his secret fatality involving axes, fire, and a kick so hard it’ll knock the skeleton right out of a defeated opponent.
Baraka’s Bonfire
EveryMortal Kombatfan knows Baraka tends to be one of the most bloodthirsty characters, in the most literal sense of the word. That’s led to some great and downright sick fatalities throughout the many games where he’s present on the roster.Mortal Kombat 1may up the ante to the highest ever seen by the character with his secret fatality that sees Baraka call in a whole Tarkatan squad to feast on the defeated opponent. Combine that with the fact that the opponent is roasted over a fire using their own intestines as a rope and this is just a downright disrespectful fatality.
Nitara’s Flying High
The vampire Nitara makes anunexpected return as a playable character inMortal Kombat 1with the even more unexpected addition of Megan Fox as her voice actor. Nitara gets a secret fatality that is both succinct and almost slapstick in its execution, making it perfect for theMKfans who love the dark humor of the series. The vampire drags her defeated opponent up high, hoisting them up by their intestine, before sending them hurdling back to the earth, gripping their intestine just long enough to see nothing more than the skeleton make it back with full momentum to the ground. The physics of it is questionable, but it’s a great one to witness.
Mortal Kombat 1is available now for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
