The idea of sitting through a story that takes tens of hours to finish sounds really tiring, but only video games could make such a concept work and keep players hooked through the entire journey as well. Such is the power of gaming, that even the most mundane tasks around can feel great to accomplish, especially if the set dressing is nice.

Some video games go above and beyond with an epilogue thatsums up every part of the storypretty nicely, while also giving players something to chew on after the major bulk of the narrative is over and done with. The following games are especially great at crafting rich and satisfying epilogues that are a joy to see all the way through to the end.

Red Dead Redemption 2is usually the first thing that comes to mind when people talk about fantastic video game epilogues. Anyone who’s finished this amazing game will know why this is the case.

Another ending sees Geralt spend his final moments with Ciri before she goes off to become Empress. The happiest ending of the lot sees Geralt and Ciri become traveling Witchers, which is great given the scare that the game gives early on with Geralt declaring Ciri dead!

7Batman: Arkham Knight

Technically speaking, unlockingArkham Knight’s secret endings can be quite a pain. However, the contents of the endings themselves are pretty great and are well worth the effort.

After Bruce Wayne was unmasked as the Batman, most players assumed how crime in Gotham would fare. However, it seems that remnants of the toxin still remain in the atmosphere, and Batman has somehow molded this powerful hallucinogen to display his nightmarish figure whenever someone tries to commit a crime!

6Far Cry 4

Far Cry 4’slitany of endingshave very minor differences, making the journey to reach these points more important than the end goal itself. However, the game does give a gut punch after players think that the strife in this region is finally put to rest.

The rebel leader that the player helped out ends up revealing a rather dark and sinister side at the very end. Thankfully, players have the opportunity to kill them as well, letting the area of Kyrat enjoy the fresh start it deserves.

5Prince Of Persia (2008)

The 2008 reboot ofPrince of Persiawas a pretty mixed bag. Great exploration and cinematic battles didn’t make up for the constant handholding and the rather simple structure of the game’s design.

The game’s ending did throw players in for a loop though, with most people assuming that Elika’s life had been snuffed out for good. However, in the game’s epilogue, players can actually unleash the power of the demon Ahriman so that Elika lives once again.
