The Witcherseason 2 won’t premiere on Netflix until 2021, but fans are anxious to see what’s next from the show. Most ofThe Witcherseason 2 is being kept secret, including new additions to the show’s cast. There’s still not a lot in the way of official information aboutThe Witcherseason 2’s cast, but a new rumor making the rounds suggests that the show’s second season may add aGame of Thronesstar.

The rumor is that Kristofer Hivju, who played Tormund Giantsbane inGame of Thrones, is joining the cast ofThe Witcherseason 2. The evidence for this theory starts with a social media post from Stephen Surjik, who has been scoutingThe Witcherseason 2 filming locations. In the post, Surjik taggedThe Witcherstars Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra, as well as Hivju. It was then discovered by Redanian Intelligence that Hivju has started followingWitcheraccounts on social media, adding even more fuel to the fire.

As for who Hivju would be playing inThe Witcherseason 2, Redanian Intelligence speculates that he may be playing the role of Nivellen, a man who was cursed to look like a bear. It’s been reported in the past that Nivellen’s story, “A Grain of Truth,” will be adapted as part ofThe Witcherseason 2, so it certainly is a possibility. However, we must stress that it’s entirely possible Hivju hasn’t been cast inThe Witcherseason 2 at all, so fans shouldn’t get their hopes up just yet.

If Hivju is added toThe Witcherseason 2 cast, he wouldn’t be the firstGame of Thronesalumni to make the jump. For example, Jodhi May, who playsQueen Calanthe inThe Witcher, previously played the role of Maggy the Frog inGame of Thrones. Francis Magee also appears as Yurga inThe Witcherseason 1’s final episodes, having previously appeared as Yoren inGame of Thrones' early seasons.

Beyond the cast, there are other connections betweenThe WitcherandGame of Thronesas well. Vladimir Furdik, who playedThe Night King inGame of Thrones, worked onThe Witcherseason 1 as a stunt and fight choreographer.

Considering the connections that already exist betweenGame of ThronesandThe Witcher, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Hivju join the cast for season 2, especially considering how popular hisGoTcharacter became by the end of the show.
