Reddit user Amb97survivor recently shared theirAnimal Crossingsequel concept called “Discovery Cruise.” Similar toAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, Discovery Cruise would utilize islands as external social hubs, while the cruise ship would act as a central location. The cruise ship could dock at islands, including those already customizedinAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. Should a player like a particular island, they’d be able to claim it after paying an undisclosed number of bells. Beyond these islands, the cruise ship would welcome newAnimal Crossingcharactersdaily, and rotating shops would provide goods that the player may need.
Stepping up his role as an occasionalNew Horizonsisland visitor, Gulliver is captain of the ship in the fan-created Discovery Cruise. Tom Nook returns in Amb97survivor’s sequel concept, owning the cruise ship and various islands that players may visit. With trade beinga central theme inAnimal Crossing, Amb97survivor’s sequel idea also features ports that allow players to exchange items. This would presumably be an online aspect of theNew Horizonssequel. Though it wasn’t elaborated on, it’s likely thatAnimal Crossingfans would be able to visit each other’s ships and islands alike. Amb97survivor’sAnimal Crossingsequel would allow the player to choose five characters and five shops to become permanent residents on the cruise ship.
Just likeAnimal Crossing: New Horizonshad islands for players to customize, this sequel concept could let them create their dream cruise ships. BecauseAnimal Crossing: New Horizonssold so well, it’s likely to see a sequel in the future. Even though Amb97survivor sees cruise ships as the next greatAnimal Crossingadvancement, it’s unclear what a potential genuine sequel would look like.
