The seventh episode ofTomodachi Gamerevealed Mikasa’s past and reasons for joining the Tomodachi game. Now he is set on destroying the Tomodachi game from within, even requesting to partner with Yuichi. As they begin the third game, how will their team manage with only three players (one of them being a stranger)?
The previous episode presented the audience with a sliver of Yuichi’s childhood. However, the viewers have yet to receive concrete answers about Yuichi’s past and his motive for murdering three people.

The Rules
As Manabu previously explained, there are two things players are prohibited from doing, including acting violent toward the opposing team and moving the hider. In other words, violence is forbidden from being used to coax the hider’s location from the seekers. Additionally, once a hider has chosen a spot, they are prohibited from choosing another place. If a team breaks the rules, their debt will double, and they will lose. This poses a challenge toYuichi’s teamas they begin searching for a location for Mikasa, the designated hider.
On the other hand, the players are permitted to contact each other via cell phones. However, Yuichi informs his teammates that they will most likely not be hearing from him unless there is an emergency. Secondly, everyone is allowed to eat once the game begins, so long as the seekers make it to the stash of food in the middle of the forest. The third thing participants (more specifically, hiders) are permitted to do is surrender by pressing a button on agrenade-shaped device. Finally, participants are authorized to switch teams.
Friendly Hide-and-Seek
When Yuichi and Mikasa find a place for the latter to hide, Mikasa reminds him of what they had talked about earlier: Yuichi informed him that it would be almost impossible for them to win. However, with an additional member of the team, Mikasa asks him if they could win now that they have another team member. But Yuichi is doubtful they would even have a chance if they have to ‘play clean,’ seeing as the other team has an extra two players.
Still, Yuichi tells him that no matter what happens, he has to hold on and persevere, and maybe then, they would have a chance to win. With Mikasa’smission to destroythe Tomodachi game and avenge his father, he reassures his friend that he will never give up because Yuichi is his last hope to help him with his objective. Before leaving Mikasa in his hiding place, Yuichi reminds him once again to trust him and wait. Then, according to Mikasa, Yuichi does not return for two days.
Two Days Later
As Mikasa remains in his hiding spot for days, he narrates that he has not seen anyone: Yuichi, hisfemale teammate, or the opposing team. Mikasa gradually loses hope and energy as time passes, especially without a morsel of food or a drop of water in his vicinity. Like most people, he briefly wonders if Yuichi betrayed him by switching teams and leaving him to die in the cave. According to Mikasa, there aren’t many plausible reasons. Why would someone be gone for so long? Where would he have gone? The isolation and lack of nutrients induce a state of paranoia and panic in Mikasa. He imagines exaggeratedbetrayal scenarios, prompting him to briefly contemplate pressing the ‘surrender’ button. However, Mikasa’s strong will triumphs as his clouded mind clears up. He attempts to call Yuichi on his provided cell phone, but ultimately, his friend doesn’t answer.

As he continues to lose hope, his phone rings, and it seems like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders once he sees it’s Yuichi. However, when he answers the call and inquires about Yuichi’s location, a different voice responds. Amember from the opposing team(Group K) informs Mikasa that Yuichi plans to abandon and betray him. He explains that he hasn’t been searching for their team’s hider. This seems like a ploy to the viewers, who are able to think rationally. However, this sounds like a nightmare to a desperate and deteriorating Mikasa. He is starving, dehydrated, and doing his best to hold himself together. He is about to give up once again when he comes to his senses and tells the player that if Yuichi needs to get ahold of him, he will do so directly. Again, Mikasa perseveres with the trust he has in Yuichi. After all, he is his only hope. The call ends, and Mikasa’s well-being continues to decline.
Group K’s Plan
After the call ends, the scene switches to the other team’s perspective. They recount their plan that was set in motion when the third game began. Group K’s captain explains that the gist of the third game isto test friendships, much like the previous two games of the Tomodachi game. A critical piece of this game is that seekers must bring food to the hiders. Group K plans to find Yuichi and his teammate and wait until they decide to take food to Mikasa before following them. They begin following their plan down to the last detail. However, Yuichi hasn’t budged, which explains why Mikasa hasn’t eaten for the past five days. Although, this isn’t what shocks everyone (excluding Mikasa, who is rather busy hallucinating in his cave). As the episode ends, Yuichi stands up and asks Group K if he couldswitch teams.
