A very unluckyElden Ringplayer who suddenly died in the game recorded a video of how they lost 1.8 million runes in the most tragic way possible. While losing runes inElden Ringis always a sad event, dying while holding so many of them without even being able to do anything about it is heartbreaking.
Elden Ringmay be one ofFromSoftware’s best games, but it’s also very hard. Death is always lurking around the corner, be it from environmental harm such as traps, falling pits, or even sneaky enemies. Also, as in previous Soulslike games where players used souls as experience,Elden Ringuses runes and gamers still lose them when they die. So, death can be made even worse by having such a big loss attached to it.

Recently, anElden Ringplayer called CarelessBasket2770 decided to share the heartbreaking story of how they lost 1.8 million runes in the game without being able to do anything about it while playing in New Game +5. In the video shared by the player, it’s possible to see the heartbreaking scene in which the player loses all that experience. The short 7-second clip shows a desperate character running around, about togather a Twiggy Cracked Tear. As soon as the player stops for a moment to get the item, they are suddenly attacked by a sneaky Warhawk, dying automatically.
In the comments of the thread, several players shared stories that were just as sad as the one from the original poster. MedicinalSCIENCE, for instance, claimed to have once lost 6.2 million runes on a New Game +8 run. They were trying to keep their full stack of runes unused during a whole run, got too convinced of their ability, entered Auriza Hero’s Grave too soon, and died. Other stories are fairly similar, such as Rookwood-1, who lost 3.5 million runes in the Subterranean Shunning Grounds when one of themost annoying enemies inElden Ring, the dreadful giant lobster, knocked them off a pipe. Curiously, they died once more to the same lobster when they tried to recover it.
Elden Ringis surely filled with unlucky deaths, but some of them are really not the player’s fault. Recently, anElden Ringgamer died because their controller stopped working. In this tragic, yet hilarious event, a player was happily strolling over an icy field when their controller stopped working and they were very slowly mauled to death by a goat, who had to hit them several times before killing them.
Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
