Many of the stages inVampire Survivorsrequire players to defeat over 100k foes to earn certain rewards (or even advance to the next stage in Adventure Mode.) Naturally, this is no easy task and will require players to utilize some planning and strategy if they hope to both survive and hit this target.

There are a fair few techniques that can be used to increase the number of enemies taken down in a single run, and it’s by combining these methods that players can hit ludicrously high enemy kill counts inVampire Survivors. Manipulating the number of enemies spawning by increasing Curse and dishing out extra damage using the right Arcana can make this challenge a lot easier.

Vampire Survivors, character selection

Characters

While some 100k kill goals must be completed with specific characters, like Menya Moonspell and Syuuto Moonspell for example, certain characters are simply much better at this goal than others. So, when it’s possible to pick a specific character, choosing a character with a powerful AOE weapon is the right way to go. Poe is a great pick for this early on since he starts with the Garlic weapon, as is Dommario due to the King Bible, but Poppea and Pugnala are also excellent choices once players have access to them. Of course, players should consider the stage they’re on when selecting a character, since Poppea’s starting weapon mainly attacks above and below her and is thus not suited to the Inlaid Library, while performing exceptionally in Gallo Tower, for example.

Power Ups

Before beginning the run, players should consider maxing out their Curse in the Power Up menu, increasing the number of enemies spawning in the level but also making them stronger and faster. Players will also want to upgrade their Damage and Cooldown reduction to help keep pace with the tougher and faster enemies. Amount is useful for many weapons, and upgrading Armor and Regen will help a lot when withstanding the hordes. If players have Limit Break enabled (which they should to make this challenge much easier) they should also max out their Growth.

Limit Break

Turning on Limit Break to enable weapons to continue advancing beyond their normal limits is probably one of the best things players can do to aid in this objective since all the extra Curse means enemies will be much tougher than normal as the player’s level continues to rise. When leveling a weapon past its cap, Might and Area boosts should be prioritized, followed by Cooldown reduction.

Useful Arcana

There are a few Arcana that can be especially helpful for this challenge, most notably “Wicked Season” and “Silent Old Sanctuary.” The former is massively helpful due to providing rotating boosts to Growth, Luck, Greed, and Curse, while also increasing each by 1% every two levels. This can quickly snowball and allow players to increase the number of enemy spawns (via the Curse boost) while also providing extra Growth and Luck to help them keep up with the increasingly powerful foes they attract. This is the most effective when using Limit Break to keep upgrading weapons beyond their normal limits.

Players might also consider using “Silent Old Sanctuary,” the single-best Arcana to pair with Limit Break when setting the number of weapons to 1. This Arcana grants a 20% boost to Might and an 8% Cooldown reduction for every empty weapon slot, which can be excellent for dishing out damage with a single strong weapon. Good picks include the Garlic/Soul Eater and the Spellstrom.

Hyper Mode

The boosted enemy speed from Hyper Mode, coupled with the player’s own increased speed, makes it easier to rack up kills by simply increasing the number of enemies within the player’s range. The player speed boost is particularly valuable when using weapons like Garlic/Soul Eater and the King Bible/Unholy Vespers, while the enemy speed increase is universally helpful in ensuring a steady stream of foes.

Endless Mode

Players who are struggling with the 30-minute time limit but are surviving until then without any issuesshould turn on Endless Mode, removing Red Death from the 30-minute mark and allowing them as much time as they need to score enough kills. While it is entirely possible to get enough kills within the time limit, Endless Mode makes it considerably more forgiving.

A Note on Hurry Mode

Hurry Mode is generally not recommended when doing this challenge, since the doubled clock speed doesn’t quite match up to the enemy speed increase and players will lose out on a lot of enemy kills as a result when playing without Endless Mode on too. If Endless Mode is enabled, then Hurry Mode shouldn’t cause any major problems, but it’s arguably less efficient to have Hurry Mode switched on when trying to hit an enemy kill count.
