The Essential Research subquest is one of the first Tokyo subquests players will get upon returning from the Netherworld for the first time inShin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance. This subquest will require players to learn the spell Mahama on the Nahobino.

The Nahobino is a blank slate where players can choose the stats and spells he uses. There are a fewbest builds for the Nahobino inShin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, but players will need to interrupt either path in order to complete this subquest and get its rewards.

Where To Learn Mahama In Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

To complete Essential Research, players will need to find an essence with the spell Mahama and fuse it to the Nahobino. It’s worthwhile to get the Divine Proficiency I miracle, which is one of thebest early-game miracles inShin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance,so this skill doesn’t take a slot from your current loadout.

The first essence players can get withMahama is Makami, which is earned as a reward for finding 40 Miman. Players can find 40 Miman in the first region of the Netherworld before going back to Tokyo, and can easily find more by progressing the story and reaching the next region to focus on finding the easy-to-spot Miman. Once this essence is obtained, fuse it through Apotheosis in the World of Shadowsand return to the researcher to complete the subquest. If you need to forget a skill to learn Mahama, be sure to forget a skill on an essence you can easily get another of, like any of the Aogami essences.

Is The Treacherous Neutral Periapt Worth It In Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance

Taking up a skill slot on the Nahobino even temporarily, can be a time sink to return him to his original form after completing the quest depending on your current loadout. The rewards for this quest are700 XP and the Treacherous Neutral Periapt, which gives access to theCombination Magatsuhi skillOmagatoki: Conserve. This skill reduces the Press Turn Icon consumption of all allies by half for one turn.

Overall, this ability is not worth the effort to obtain. The base Magatsuhi skill Omagatoki: Critical does about the same thing, and will ultimately end up dealing more damage because of the critical hits. Conserve is the better option if your entire party is able to hit a weakness in the same turn, but these situations are far and few between.
