To add to the ever-increasing number of properties that have made an appearance inFortnite, Bungie has allowed Epic Games to introduce three new skins based on itsDestinyIP. These skins - based on Ikora Rey, Commander Zavala, and the Exo Stranger - come with their own unique gliders, pickaxes, and back blings. Separate from the character packs is an individual “Investigate” emote that allows players to bring out their very own ghost that scans the surrounding area.Fortniteplayers who are fans of Bungie’s first-person looter shooter will appreciate how theDestinycharacters have made the transition over to Epic Games' cartoonish battle royale.
But despite these new skins,Destinyfans may find the lack of one particular character disappointing. That character is Cayde-6 - an Exo and the former Hunter Vanguard. Cayde-6 has played an integral role in bothDestinyandDestiny 2’s plot - aiding countless Guardians until his untimely death at the hands of Uldren Sov. Cayde’s wit and humor lightened the mood that the other characters gave off. With such a character present inDestiny, one has to wonder whyhe wasn’t added as a purchasable skin inFortnite.

Cayde-6 Brings All The Fun
As mentioned, Cayde-6’s personality is a stark contrast to most of the other characters inDestiny- particularly his fellow Vanguards, Zavalla and Ikora Rey. His unique disposition can be attributed to the writers at Bungie as well as to Nathan Fillion and Nolan North - the actors that portray him (North filled in for Fillion during the character’s final appearancein theDestiny 2ForsakenDLC). The mantle of Vanguard was unwillingly passed on to Cayde-6 after he lost a bet following the death of his friend and former Hunter Vanguard, Andal Brask. Despite being good at his new job, Cayde-6 still retained his high-stakes personality and dry humor - making him an unpredictable threat to his enemies and a fun (if occasionally annoying) friend to his allies.
Fun Is At The Heart of Fortnite
Cayde’s easy-going and colorful personality is precisely why he would fit inFortniteso well.Cayde has numerous jokes, emotes, and references tied to him, and it’s a wonder none of them are included in theDestiny-Fortnitecrossover. The “Odd Dance” emotem which is said to be Cayde’s favorite, is a goofy dance that would feel right at home withFortnite’s plethora of dance emotes. His love for ramen has been cemented due to numerous voice lines and visual references. And one cannot forget Cayde-6’s pet chicken, the Colonel, as he provides some extra slapstick relief to the already humorous Cayde.
Cayde-6 even has his unique weapon: The Ace of Spaces hand cannon. Seeing as the weapon acts much like a revolver,Fortnitecould either create an Ace of Spaces weapon wrap or add the gun into the game as a unique ground pick-up. Considering the game currently hasan overpowered lootable Kamehameha fromDragon Ball, adding the Ace of Spades wouldn’t be the weirdest thing the game has done.

Bungie and Epic Games mightnot have included a Cayde-6 skin out of respect for the character’s death, or they may be postponing it for another upcomingDestiny-Fortnitecollaboration. Either way, failing to add Cayde-6 intoFortnitewould be a big mistake. Cayde-6’s personality befits theFortnitefranchise even more so than theDestinycharacters that were added to the game. Many aspects of the character can be monetized or turned into game elements like new weapons or modes. Add this to the fact that neither Nathan Fillion nor Nolan North has to voice the character (saving Epic Games a ton of money), and Cayde-6 should be a shoo-in as an addition toFornite.
Fortniteis available now on some Mobile devices, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
