After numerous delays, Arkane Studios’Deathloopis launching this month. The new title from theDishonoreddevelopers looks set to be a fresh spin on the team’s brand of first-person action games.Deathloopwill be a notable timed-exclusive release for PS5, and fans have been wondering if the developer will add any post-launch content. While DLC hasn’t been confirmed forDeathloop, Arkane’s track record with post-launch content for its other games could indicate if it’s likely to happen or not.
While the game will be releasing for PC as well,Deathloopcould be particularly impressive on PS5. Thanks to the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller,Deathloopcould be a great experience for players on PS5. The game could very likely release on Xbox consoles in the future, and along with that, DLC could be a possibility forDeathloopdown the line. Arkane Studios has crafted downloadable content for its games before, andDeathloopcould be no exception. The bigger question is what form the DLC could take.

Arkane’s Studios History with DLC
The developer has a strong history of supporting its releases with post-launch content: TheDishonoredseries received multiple expansions, andPreyreceived theMooncrashexpansion. Of all the team’s games, however, the firstDishonoredgame arguably had the strongest post-launch support. It got three distinct DLC packages, including the time trial-based Dunwall City Trials, alongside The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches story expansions. Based on the extent of Arkane Studios' previous support for post-release content, it stands to reason thatDeathloopwill receive some kind of extra content after it launches.
An interesting example from Arkane Studio’shistory with DLC isDishonored: Death of the Outsider. This standalone expansion started life as extra content forDishonored 2before morphing into a project big enough to warrant its own independent release. While it doesn’t guarantee sizeable expansions forDeathloop, it goes to show that Arkane has the capacity to meaningfully expand upon its properties.
Players should expect downloadable expansions forDeathloop, and it isn’t without precedent to think that it could have its own spin-off expansion.Deathloophas a large cast of diverse characters who could work in a standalone release, like Julianna Blake, the nemesis of protagonist Colt Vahn.
Deathloopwill have some kind of minor DLCat launch, which is set to come in the form of pre-order bonuses. Players who pre-order the game will be able to equip different character skins, weapons, and other in-game items. Arkane has a history of creating DLC in-game items like these as well, so this might not be too surprising for gamers. With that said, players still should be able to expect some more significant DLC forDeathloopdown the line that will include new missions or gameplay elements.
While story expansions haven’t been confirmed forDeathloop, it would be unexpected for the game not to receive post-launch content. Based on the developer’s history with expanding each release, gamers should be able to comfortably expect extra content after the game’s full release.Deathloopis set to be a big release for PS5and hopefully, in the future, there will be expanded content for players to experience in addition to the base game.
Deathloopis set to launch on June 29, 2025, on PC and PS5.
