Since theWorld of Warcraft: Shadowlandspre-patch dropped a few days ago, players are rediscovering some of Azeroth’s greatest tales from the past thanks to a new leveling system. But while old and returning heroes can nowchoose whichWoWexpansion to quest throughon alts, they are forced to complete some mandatory and repetitive intro storylines before going elsewhere on each new character. Even in modern times, this requirement still exists for more recent expansions likeWarlords of Draenor.
InWarlords of Draenor’sintroduction, players cross through into an alternate Draenor to cripple the Dark Portal and prevent more Iron Horde orcs from invading Azeroth. This questline was hailed as one of the best lead-in stories and testament toWarlords ofDraenor’spositive features, although nearly everyone has become tired of the lengthy intro since then. Players could previously skip it all by using a mage portal or taking a secret teleporter in Pandaria, but those both require a character be at least level 30 now. However, there’s still another way to get around the intro questline even at level 10.

Talk to Chromie
First, players need to find Chromie who will be at the Allied Race embassy in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Speak to her and select “The Iron Horde” fromChromie’s Timewalking Campaigns. Afterwards, the follow-up quest will direct everyone to the Blasted Lands thanks to a teleport from a Vanguard Battlemage. This NPC will be inside Stormwind’s Mage Tower or within Orgrimmar’s Pathfinder’s Den.
Abandon the Quest
Normally, players talk to Khadgar and begin the intro after a short cutscene. That’s not going to happen this time. since players need to abandon their quest. verify there’s nothing related to “Assault on the Dark Portal” in the logs before walking through the big red portal. Note that players may aggro several eliteWorld of Warcraftmobs before running through, so mount up and use defensive cooldowns if necessary.
If everything was done right, players should end up in Frostfire Ridge or Shadowmoon Valley like after normally completing the intro questline. From there, players can quickly establish their character’sWarlords of Draenorgarrisonand quest through the both areas' stories before leaving for the neighboring zones of Gorgrond and Talador eventually.

While this skip is convenient for most of the community, newcomers and players that haven’t quested in Draenor yet should go through the intro because of the massive amount of EXP they get in a short period of time. Furthermore, not doing the questline means missing out on the plot factors that drive characters like Khadgar throughoutWarlords of Draenor’sentire story. In the long run, however, skipping the intro won’t set players back very far consideringWarlords of Draenorstill holds the title for fastest leveling.
