Blizzard has disabledWorld of Warcraft’s new Trading Post feature after only being up for a few hours. With the release ofWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflight, one of the features announced inpatch 10.0.5 was the Trading Postwhich serves as a way for players to earn cosmetics via in-game activities, but it appears they will have to wait a little longer for it to be fully operational.
With a game as long-running asWorld of Warcraft, theTrading Post offers a way for players to obtain cosmetic itemsfrom the cash shop without spending money and events that occurred before they joined the game or had missed out on. Although not perfect, it adds benefits to the game in a way that offers the overall player base more options to customize their character in a way they prefer while still engaging with the game.

Unfortunately, according to Blizzard, the Trading Post has experienced “unexpected issues” and has shut it down while the developer fixes them, as reported by Wowhead. It will not stay down for long as the developer has stated the fixes will be implemented duringWorld of Warcraft’snext maintenance period and should be back up the next day. Along with the initial post is an update clarifying that the maintenance period will be scheduled for 03:00 CST but does not clarify how long this period will last.
Many excited to start using the feature may feel annoyed by this development, but given the short period the Trading Post will be down for, the feeling likely would not evolve beyond that. Since theTrading Post inWorld of Warcraftrevolves around a monthly schedule, losing a day will not be that big of a deal for many. Whatever the issue is, it likely is not a massive one, given how quick the fix is estimated to be.
Even when the Trading Post does go live for real, there are issues players have taken with it that tie into how progression works and how it ties into some specific items. One suchreward inDragonflightwill take an entire year to unlockat the very least, as its conditions specify completing monthly challenges for 12 months. This, coupled with the monthly cap of 1,000 Traveler’s Tender to use for the Trading Post, raises concerns about how artificially grindy the new system likely is. How the system is going to be in practice will only be known once the fixes are implemented and players finally gain access to the Trading Post.
